Your ELAN directory then only needs an XML file with CMDI metadata to point ELAN to that server. ![]() In general, recognizer modules are often not installed on the local computer but on an institute server. You can find information about avatech on but you are right that there is no place where you can download recognizers yet. An older example is the rough segmentation mode where you just tap a key while playing your media to start/end annotation segments, quickly generating many annotation segments in one go. In addition, newer versions of ELAN feature faster work flows for annotating: #įor example a table view which minimizes the number of key presses needed to type text for many annotations. Then you only have to fill in the text for the already marked time spans. Luckily there are other ways to annotate quickly in ELAN: You can use avatech signal analysis modules (recognizers) to automatically segment your audio or video files. Using a mouse or pen input device are better methods to ‘hit’ exact coordinates. #įinally, you might be disappointed by the lack of precision of multi touch input. You are of course not limited to iPad hardware for using multi touch: #Īny tablet PC or computer with touch screen or computer with a touch pad, graphics tablet or similar device could be used in theory, as long as it supports multi-touch (which I think is very uncommon for graphics tablets, by the way). However, nothing in ELAN uses multi touch gestures yet and I do not know whether and how certain versions of Java would support them at all. #Īlso, your main reason for being interested in ELAN for iPad seems to be using the touch screen with multiple fingers. Both Java and good media player support are needed to run ELAN. You might be able to install some version of Java after ‘breaking your jail’, but then the next problem will be that ELAN needs a decent media player, preferably with hardware acceleration for graphics and/or sound. Now, testing this again with Thumbjam, the keyboard has been displayed correctly in Landscape mode.Hi! After a quick web search, I get the impression that Java and Flash are intentionally not available for iPhone or iPad. So it was impossible to enter the numbers! Instead of displaying the numbered keyboard to enter my password, it tried to display in the same small square window the full keyboard, without a scrolling option. ![]() It only occurred to me the first time that I was trying this with Thumbjam. ![]() I’m in landscape mode 90% of the time.īut the option to double-click and end GA with Face ID is very convenient and new to me. Strange, I never encountered this bug on my iPad Pro 3rd Generation, using GA from iOS 13.7 to the newest iOS version. So be sure to also configure the option to exit this mode by using Face ID, by clicking two times instead of three in the main button of your iPad. So if you have previously locked the orientation, you can find a situation in which is impossible to exit this mode or even turn off or reboot the iPad. But be aware that there is a bug in this Guided Access, and the keyboard for introducing the code to exit the dedicated app mode will only appear if the iPad is displayed vertically.
